Not every AI site needs to be all about playing with AI girlfriends and figuring out how to make a compelling scenario. Some AI sites bring you an assortment of scenarios you can choose from, and StoryChan is a database of settings and characters compatible with DreamGen and SillyTavern. The site itself doesn't run the code for the AI, but allows you to import it into the mentioned sites, which will then use it to run the story for you. The sites StoryChan connects to allow you to further modify the text and the code, which will help create a truly brand-new story.

Not all stories are NSFW, but most of them are, and you can expect to see a lot of them going around. We calculated 300 scenarios on the site, which can easily be sorted using the tag system or by searching for words. If you are still overwhelmed, you can use the AITinder option, which will behave like a Tinder interface and help you match up with any stories you might be interested in. Encounters vary from one-on-one to whole novels and adventures that can be explored like a CYOA book.

StoryChan is free to use and free to explore. There are no such things as privacy policies or user agreements. The site automatically gates you over to the connected sites and hooks you up to the story description input. The prices for using these sites, as well as their polices, depend on them and are not connected to StoryChan in any way. This means that StoryChan is nothing but a hub of data you can bring to supported websites.

But, if you don’t like the sites on offer, you can still opt for a third option. You can download the settings and bring them to another AI companion site. There are two options for story downloads. Scenario V1 can represent stories with many more than one character and is suitable for sites like DreamGen. Character Card V2 is good for SillyTavern and other software, but this mode can’t run multiple characters properly.

You know about public libraries and reading nooks, or those gaming spaces? StoryChan feels like a variation of these concepts as it brings you free code and stories to read and play. The stories are linked to DreamGen, so you don’t have to go on a hunt that will leave you confused. If you are not a fan of how DreamGen works or how it handles AI, you can always download the inputs and connect them to other software (perhaps of your own making), which gives you more freedom over how you experience the scenarios.
