August is behind us, and the first shipments of The Handy 2 have been sent out. By now, users who backed the initial Kickstarter can already get their hands on the good toy. The second model of The Handy was one of the biggest booms in adult history, with over a million dollars raised on Kickstarter within the first month alone. The train of expectations is high, and everyone is clamoring to see how the new body of the beloved masturbation motor will turn out. We got our hands on the thing early, and we must admit we put it to great use. Yes, there's no shame in using it extensively for... research. But that means we're awfully familiar with the product. So, what did we learn?
First The Good
Gotta start with the good talk, that's the law! It's how we hype you up to read more (don't tell anyone that). The Handy 2 is a direct upgrade in terms of basic functions. Makes sense! It's literally version two of the male stroker. We've had the most insights from its physical specs, as that's what most stuck out to us. Admittedly, the software part of the thing also seemed to be good, and it paired up well with the base features of the motor. But as the syncing feature is a deeply personal thing, it's something that you will need to give a shot. Chances are, if you loved using the original Handy in a certain way, the newer version is also going to be agreeable.
With the intro out of the way, here are the direct improvements we noticed from the second edition of The Handy:
- Longer Stroke Length: Handy 2 has better reach when it comes to stroking. The difference from the main model is 1.5cm. To put that into freedom units, Handy 2 has 4.9 inches of stroke length. It's a pretty decent improvement, and it felt amazing to have it work that extra reach. Longer reach also means new possibilities for scripts, which brings us to our second good point.
- Increased Speed And Power: Pretty self-explanatory. This bad boy is going to be a dream once funscript builders get their hands on it. The motor maxes out at 60dB noise, and that's only when you beef up the power. If you love being wrung dry, no comment, then just stick to the top speeds. We liked it a little more complex than that. In addition to being faster overall, The Handy 2 can also take on even higher max speeds. It was really interesting, because the one we had was about fifty grams heavier than the first model. That little bit of additional weight was truly amazing, but that's more of an individual thing.
- That App Is Good: Listen, we had the misfortune of going through government apps that were some kind of desperate effort to turn digital. It was not good. Now, if official government stuff is not ticking, can a porn toy's app work? Turns out, yes it does! It's smooth and simple. The app can directly interact with the machine, being able to even reverse the stroker.
The Bad Comes
The good points are out of the way. Now, we are talking about things that aren't working so well. First thing we have to say is that, at least to us, the new Handy feels like it doesn't quite live up to the hype. That's to be expected! It's basically No Man's Sky of the sex industry. At least, the wow factor of the original Handy is not there, at least not for us. If you have experience with other motors and automatic toys, it's not revolutionary. This is probably unavoidable. Well, NMS managed to redeem itself, but can The Handy 2 do the same? Here are our biggest complaints:
1. Ok, we're a bit hyperbolic. Our first complaint is fixable, but it feels like the end of the world. The thing is, the mounting holes are on the bottom. This can be a really finicky issue that then leads to problems with the buttons and everything else. You can reverse this in the app, so The Handy 2 can be used in the "upside down" position. But we didn't figure it out at first, and it looks like many other users also had the same issue.
2. Difficult To Hold And Mount For Hand-Free Use: The Handy can be held in your palm, or you can also make a hands-free mount. This would be the case if The Handy 2 weren't so hard to hold. It doesn't feel good to hold in the palm, and because of the technical side of things, the holder we used for the original stroker wasn't compatible. Sitting in a chair with this bad boy on is a challenge. This might be an issue that simply needs some time to resolve, but as of right now, it's a big turn-off.
Our Final Opinion
There are hiccups and issues, and the community is still trying to figure out what to do. The Handy 2 is a direct upgrade, but the changes called for unusual design choices.
Give this guy a wait. If you pre-ordered, don't give up on her so soon. Ideas for fixes are still brewing, and we can expect new features and options to be rolled out as time goes by. We suggest joining the community Discord to get live advice from fellow users, as well as some tips and tricks. It helped us a huge deal just to have someone else who uses the toy on our side. Count our blog as a bit of giving back to the community for all the help and advice we got. The Handy 2 still has a lot of potential, but we need to see how the holding part of the deal will turn out. Strap in, wait. And remember, the new Handy is compatible with third-party sleeves.
