The Gap That Leaves Phones Behind - Why 4K And VR Can Never Shine On Phones

Our phones are incredible pieces of technology that make the world go around and connect us with people who we would otherwise never meet in our lives. It's also the prime source of entertainment worldwide, with countless apps and software being made to better fit with what a phone market and trends demand. Among these many options, video and VR have also breached through and have cemented themselves as one of the prime ways to handle the platform as an economic access point for lower-end users. It's far cheaper to get a good phone and a good internet spot than it is to get VR equipment and buy a fully decked-out PC. VR is often said to be the final destination of all NSFW content, and many have dreamed of seeing it for themselves.

The Phone Dream

Phones are versatile little freaks that can be bent and stretched in whatever way the public demands. Do you want to play a good game with unparalleled performance? You got it. Do you want to take breathtaking photos and films? Already done. Do you need a great bit of storage to host all of your memes you will never dig out on time? Got done. It's the phone that unlocked the world of VR for countless users with a simple cardboard setup that anyone could do, as well as apps that support the VR settings and even interactive adult toys and funscripts. And now, the world is so bright and powerful that dreams don't seem impossible anymore. VR could be tested out without ludicrous investment in technology, and it could be accessed from your home whenever you want - and it even has several degrees of support exclusive to it!

The Entrance is Still Just That

Of course, entrance into VR through the phone is still the equivalent of buying a used but reliable car that can take you places without issues, but it's not spectacular in any way that matters, and it might even be subpar in some aspects. A phone is your first car that's old enough to vote and will run until the sun dies out, except a phone will die before that four-wheeled junk perishes. There are many aspects tied to a phone that are notoriously difficult to handle and not the best. Be it the processing power, the screen resolution, its memory space, the interface, or even how it begins pleading for death twenty minutes into a good VR porn video (and that's on a good day). Upgrading a phone is almost impossible, so it's very likely it will cap out with what it can equipped with.

Small 4K Screens Are An Overkill

Even some PCs still run the glorious HD screens today, and those screens are of a significant size. Phones, by comparison, are so small that equipping them with a 4K screen is not the smartest move. The users would barely be able to tell the difference from a regular screen. The main attraction point of a 4K screen is the utter lack of pixelation when you zoom in or get close, which is not something phones are overly concerned with. As such, most VR sets hooked to a phone will be locked to Full HD, while some that are better off will feature 2K at most. To be fair, some phones do run 4K screens, but those are often on the price side of the shopping list and come with their set of issues a user might judge to be too great for the small benefit.

4K Is Like Gold Leaf On Food

In technical terms, if we take the size of a typical smartphone, the human eye would never be able to fully perceive all the pixels a 4K screen can offer. It's like adding a stupidly expensive ingredient to your food that you can't even taste. Most companies have decided it's too much work. That said, users who do own 4K phones also have other issues to contend with. Mostly, running a screen so sharp is like a whale shark for energy. The battery would struggle to keep up with the demand, and in a world where phones already run out of power too quickly, this is a major negative. Furthermore, the energy gulping also means the battery would overheat, the phone would become slower overall, and the battery would degrade quicker. That's a lot of damage for benefit you can't even enjoy.

All Your Energy Are Belong To Us

Of course, if you can handle all that, you will be met with a strange interface. Most sites have some options that help navigate a film of your choice, but on the phone, this can become rather unwieldy and strange. Scrambling to press a button or scroll notoriously tends to draw people out of their immersion. But even when that is handled, the bigger issues rise to the top - the film you stream will eat even more energy. At this point, you are speedrunning how fast your phone can run out of gas. Combine it with an internet connection, which will go down at light speed. Streaming itself provides a set of inconveniences that are tied to your internet speed, and the usual fix is to download them. That said, a phone will rarely be able to hold more than one film.

Reality Is Simple

VR devices would not have their rulership so firmly entrenched if phones could handle even half of what those headsets can do. Unfortunately, a phone is nothing more than a door that shows newbies what they can expect from VR and how it can look. A phone is not a poor man's VR, however. It can handle the teledildonics support with ease, and it's probably one of the most common VR sets out there. But if true VR starts at 4K and only becomes more real the further up you go, the phone sets will never become "certified VR platforms." Knowing this makes things easier, and some expectations can be reset into something better. A budget VR access is still a great thing for all people who can't afford a full headset. Just like that old car you bought, it might not be the fastest, but it gets you where you need to go.
